Icbc Aviation Has Completed A Sale and Leaseback (Slb) Transaction with IAG Group Carrier Iberia

Chinese bank-backed lessor ICBC Aviation has completed a sale and leaseback (SLB) transaction with IAG Group carrier Iberia covering an Airbus A350-900 widebody delivered to the Spanish flag carrier in March.

This is Iberia’s 12th A350-900 in the fleet, with another eight on firm order from Airbus.

Iberia has financed previous A350 deliveries by way of SLBs with Jackson Square Aviation, SMBC Aviation Capital and CCB Leasing, Airfinance Journal Fleet Tracker data shows. It also has tapped Japanese investor monies for certain A350s, with Tokyo Century as manager.

This was not ICBC Aviation’s first SLB deal with Iberia; in 2020 it delivered four A321neos to Iberia Express and two A320neos to the mainline airline, also on SLB.

Fleet Tracker shows that ICBC Aviation also has closed A350 deals with carriers including Air France, Asiana Airlines, Ethiopian Airlines and SAS.

Under this background, the Aircraft Value Management International Forum 2022 will be held on June23rd-24th , 2022 in Shanghai, China.
