Summit Background
As the global aviation industry accelerates its transition toward net-zero emissions, Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) has been widely recognised as the most viable and scalable solution for reducing aviation emissions over the coming decades. With regulatory frameworks such as the EU ReFuelEU Aviation initiative and ICAO’s CORSIA being progressively implemented, airlines are facing increasingly clear and binding SAF adoption requirements. Securing compliant, reliable and cost-competitive SAF supply has therefore become a strategic priority for airlines worldwide.

At the same time, China and the wider Asia-Pacific region are rapidly emerging as key growth engines of the global SAF industry. With long-term advantages in feedstock availability, industrial capacity, engineering expertise and manufacturing scale, China is accelerating the development of SAF pilot projects and commercial deployment. As production pathways mature and certification systems increasingly align with international standards, China’s SAF industry is well positioned not only to meet domestic demand, but also to integrate into global aviation fuel supply chains as an important source of diversified SAF supply for international airlines.

Against this backdrop, the Global Sustainable Aviation Fuel Summit – China Chapter has been established as a project-driven collaboration platform for the global aviation and SAF community. The summit brings together policymakers, airlines, SAF producers, technology providers, feedstock suppliers, financial institutions and certification bodies to engage in in-depth discussions on policy alignment, supply network development, commercial models, investment mechanisms and future technology pathways. By connecting China and Asia-Pacific’s SAF capabilities with the practical needs of global airlines, the summit aims to foster cross-regional collaboration, accelerate the transition from pilot projects to large-scale deployment, and deliver actionable solutions to support the long-term decarbonisation of the global aviation industry.
