Chinese-made Aircraft Maintenance Facility Opens in SW China’s Chengdu

A domestic maintenance facility for aircraft has been officially opened in Chengdu, capital of Southwest China's Sichuan Province on Wednesday, as a regional jetliner ARJ21, manufactured by the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) which launched maintenance operations the same day.
Chengdu Airlines will carry out 10 days of maintenance work on domestic ARJ21 aircraft for the first time at the base.
The base, which is located in Shuangliu, Sichuan, is expected to become a comprehensive maintenance facility for domestic aircraft by 2025, providing maintenance, training and research capabilities.
Earlier in April this year, China's first domestically-made aircraft production and flight-testing center was completed in Nanchang, capital of East China's Jiangxi Province.
Three ARJ21 regional passenger planes were delivered to major domestic airlines in June 2020 in Shanghai, marking that domestically made jetliners entered the major domestic commercial aviation market.
COMAC delivered the jetliners, with 90 seats in a full economy class configuration, to Air China, China Eastern Airlines, and China Southern Airlines, according to the Xinhua News Agency.
As of November 2021, more than 60 ARJ21 aircraft have been delivered, with Chengdu Airlines boasting the largest fleet.
