China Southern Airlines plans to increase Boeing and Airbus order

China Southern Airlines will reportedly add over 200 Boeing and Airbus single-aisle jets over three years.

Details regarding the airline¡¯s plans were revealed in China Southern¡¯s aircraft delivery and disposal plan released on March 27, 2023, and first reported by Bloomberg.

According to the publication the total order will include 103 Boeing 737 aircraft and 111 Airbus A320 series jets.
Deliveries will reportedly include a previous agreement announced in July 2022, for 96 Airbus A320neo worth $12.2 billion.

Boeing 737 MAX flights only restarted in January 2023 after the fleet was ground for three years following the deaths of 346 people in two crashes.

The first flight took place on January 13, 2023, when a China Southern Airlines Boeing 737 MAX departed from Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN) to Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport (CGO).
Several airlines have since followed in the footsteps of China Southern Airlines, including Air China, Hainan Airlines and its subsidiary Fuzhou Airlines, Lucky Air, Shandong Airlines, and Shanghai Airlines.

In total, 25 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, all -8s, are currently active in China and operated by seven airlines in the country.
