Xinjiang's First High-altitude Airport Successfully Flies for The First Time

Taxkorgan Red Qirapu Airport is located 13 kilometers south of Taxkorgan Tajik Autonomous County, with an altitude of 3,252 meters, about 300 kilometers from Kashgar, and covers an area of 3456 acres. It can meet the annual passenger throughput of 160,000 person-times, the cargo and mail throughput of 400 tons, and the demand for annual flight takeoffs and landings of 1,900 sorties. As the first high-altitude airport in Xinjiang, Taxkorgan Red Qilav Airport will greatly shorten the time from Urumqi to Taxkorgan Tajik Autonomous County.

Routes from Taxkorgan to Kashgar, Shaq, Urumqi, Yining, and Aksu will be planned. The long-term plan will increase the routes from Taxkorgan to Xi’an, Beijing and Shenzhen, which will play an important role in the economic prosperity of Taxkorgan Tajik Autonomous County and the completion of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
