As a key professional technician, pilot is the main force of civil aviation productivity，it has been well concerned by both inside and outside the industry.

According to statistics, from 2011 to 2015, the number of Chinese airline pilot license increased more than 12% for five years. By the end of 2015, available captains of domestic transportation airlines are 12460, available copilots are 15476, the total of Chinese civil aviation pilots' valid licenses is 45523, with year-on-year growth of 14.1%. Among them, the proportion of female pilots increased significantly, the number reached 599, the proportion of foreign pilot decreased.

Recent years, general aviation scored a first by benefit during the layout of 'the 13th Five-Year Plan' and 'the Belt and Road initiative', with country's low-altitude airspace open up gradually, our general aviation is ushering in rapid development, the total number of general aviation pilot's increase in 2015, however, general aviation pilot shortage is still a major constraint of development. The next decade, China's general aviation aircraft holding volume is expected to more than 10,000, demand of general aviation pilots is more than 20,000, with an annual training demand of 1500-2000 people, at present, China's annual training number of general aviation pilots is no more than 200, it is far from the development needs of China's general aviation.

Of particular concern is that the number of UAV pilots has been growing by leap, as of December 31, 2015, a total of UAV pilot certificate is 2142, it increased by nine fold compared with 2014, mainly in the civil UAV manufacturing, research and development enterprises, related institutions and universities. Currently, there are 57 UAV pilot training institutions have training qualifications.

In China, there are two different culture systems of training airline pilots and general aviation pilots, however limited resources are mainly used for training civil aviation pilots. Present aviation training model will be a major factor restricting the development of aviation industry.
